Sunday snapshot: Christmas take two
It took 32 hours. It involved driving more than two hours through snow. It required sprinting through the Chicago airport. It ended with no luggage. It means my body can’t figure out what time it is. But holding my eight day old niece? And celebrating Christmas a second time with my family? Certainly made the hassles of the journey worth it. We spent New Years morning opening up presents, and I spent it soaking up my first “Christmas” in the States in six years. Here are a few shots from yesterday and today. Sophie will soon be having her own photoshoot; so never fear, there is more of her to come!
Mike was excited for Christmas!
Opening presents takes awhile when you want to read them.
Present opening is serious business.
Ethan likes to help everyone open presents.
I told Ethan to hold up his new ornament for me to see. He took the instructions quite literally.
Sophie slept through all the excitement…look how tiny she is!
Proud grandpa.
We’re doing our best to turn Sophie into an Ohio State fan.
Ethan may be a little confused about his holidays…he thought his turkey hat was the most appropriate attire for lunch today.
My beautiful sister and her gorgeous daughter.
And my handsome nephew and brother-in-law.
Nothing like playing in the sand in shorts on January 2nd.
Once again, beautiful sister–I think she has a bit of a glow!
We attempted some family shots, but Ethan was a bit distracted by the Star Wars character on the boardwalk…
So we moved to where the Star Wars character wasn’t in sight.
And then attempted a photo of the whole family. Sophie was a bit hard to position.
Then Ethan got a case of the “squirmies.”
Acting goofy behind the camera only led to this.
So we soon gave up the endeavor…we’ll get a good one before I leave!
Oh goodness… what a tiny little peanut! She is positively adorable – and so is her big brother 🙂
So glad you made the trip safely, and I hope your luggage arrives!!
Happy New Year 🙂
Happy New Year! Being overseas for Christmas can often be a challenge… I am so glad you made it “home” to celebrate with family. Hope your luggage makes it, too, at some point!
We thought the pix were great. Ethan and Elizabeth look so good. Know you will have a great visit.. We had a great time with Barbara over Christmas. Two games of Rage were a highpoint. She added much joy to the holiday. Grma and Grpa
